Who is Connect?
In her private practice Connect for Kids+, Amanda assisted hundreds of children and adolescents develop the skills they need to ‘get along with others’ through group therapy sessions.
Amanda is a Speech Pathologist with over 30 years’ experience working in the area of social communication and interaction. Early in her career, she moved away from more traditional areas of speech pathology to focus on the social and pragmatic aspects of communication, particularly how people connect, relate and navigate everyday interactions.
Amanda is known for her warm, thoughtful approach and for providing support that is practical, respectful and grounded in real life. Her work centres on understanding interaction differences and supporting people to find ways of connecting that feel authentic and sustainable in their everyday worlds.
I was really blown away by our last session and how practical and useful it was!
Sophie, 44 years
Before establishing Connect at York, Amanda founded Connect for Kids+, where she worked extensively with children and adolescents through group programs focused on friendship development and peer relationships. Prior to this, she spent over 12 years working within child and adolescent mental health services.
Alongside her clinical work, Amanda has been involved in postgraduate training and professional development for the School of Psychiatry and Professional Development within the Departments of Health and Education and Speech Pathology Australia. She has also contributed to Western Australian state policy development in the area of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
I wish I were able to bottle up Amanda’s unique skill set along with her ability to understand, empathise and go the extra mile for those struggling with social, communication and interpersonal skills. She “connects” with her clients on every level and offers them practical support and guidance. In a relatively short period of time we have already seen extremely positive results with our son and would highly recommend her

Amanda has done wonders for my child who has struggled with social skills during primary school. She has helped him learn strategies that he can use to navigate social issues at school and also has helped with difficulties communicating and understanding his teachers. With help from Amanda, this has enabled him to find his tribe at high school and start to enjoy the social side of school. We never thought he would gain so much from Amanda’s sessions with him but we are beyond grateful and will be forever pleased we found her programs.
