Connect for Kids and Adolescents
Connect at York is a private practice supporting children, adolescents and adults to navigate social interaction, communication and connection in ways that feel authentic and workable.
School can be a tough place when friendships do not come easily. Feeling left out, misunderstood, or unsure where you fit can have a real impact on how a child or young person experiences school and themselves.
Friendships matter. They offer connection, support, fun and a sense of belonging. When a child or adolescent has not yet found their people or is struggling to maintain friendships, school can start to feel exhausting or isolating rather than safe and engaging.
At Connect at York, support focuses on helping children and adolescents understand and navigate social interaction in ways that feel respectful, practical and relevant to their everyday lives. Sessions provide space to look closely at what is happening in real situations with peers and to explore different ways of responding when things feel difficult.
This work supports children and adolescents to find connections that are a good fit for them and to build friendships that feel healthy and mutually supportive. It also addresses challenging social experiences, such as teasing, bullying, exclusion or conflict, with a focus on responses that feel manageable, protective and sustainable.
Work with children and adolescents is individualised and collaborative and always includes supporting parents to better understand what helps their child build and sustain meaningful connections with others.
